HISTORY HIGHLIGHTS.....from the Lompoc Valley Bicycle Club..... Nov.

Sponsors.....and the LVBC
Since its inception in 1993, the LVBC has benefitted greatly from sponsoring
organizations. In particular, three individuals and their firms deserve
recognition for contributions over the years.
Gary Mead, a founding member of the Club, provided seed money
and an initial
meeting location at his restaurant, Mi Amore Pizza & Pasta. Located
at 1321 North
H Street in Lompoc, Mead has considerably enlarged and modernized his
facility.
Presently, besides his full menu Italian meals, Mi Amore has video games
and
family entertainment.
Steve Miller, owner of Bicycles Unlimited at 660 North H Street in
Lompoc, was
another ground floor member of the LVBC who generously provided
funds for
Club organization and projects. Over the years, his shop has become
a local mecca for
LVBC riders and Valley cyclists of all abilities. Miller is an acknowledged
master
wrench, with particular expertise in wheel building. Among his
quality road and
off-road products are TREK, Diamondback, Gary Fisher, and Santa Cruz
machines.
Along with periodic donations, Miller has provided Club member price
discounts
for years. His seed funds assisted with the original design
and purchase of LVBC
jerseys and jackets, and his Bicycles Unlimited logo appears on the
right sleeve of
Club apparel.
Another cycle store owner, Chuck Cryor, was a Club member when a Lompoc
resident, and he helped develop a number of local riding trails. Now
a Santa Marian, Cryor describes his business, Pedal Power Bicycles,1740
South Broadway, as an
enthusiasts shop dealing with anything on wheels.
His product line includes
Gary Fisher and Yeti mountain cycles, as well as Greg LeMond road and
Redline
BMX machines. Still an active racer, Cryor heads Team Pedal Power, an
off-road
competition group. Club members receive discounts at Pedal Power, and
its logo
covers the left sleeve of our eye-riveting colors.
The Club especially appreciates the assistance our sponsors have provided.
Although no longer active with the LVBC, Gary Mead helped launch our
organization. Steve Miller and Chuck Cryor still offer members valuable
technical aid and cycling product discounts.
